Industrial Property Course - Patents 2024 edition

Course presentation

The Industrial Property Course – Patents, organized by the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano, is aimed at providing a professional training in the IP field, with a specific focus on the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. In particular, the course Patents  is aimed at the attainment of the Patent Litigator qualification according to R. 12 of the Draft rules on the European patent litigation certificate and other appropriate qualifications pursuant to article 48(2) of the agreement on a Unified Patent Court.

The course will start on October 3rd, 2023. It will be held  online, through the Microsoft Teams platform, and in person, in case at least six of the participants will  be registered to attend the course in person.

The course will end with three days of practical exercises for which the presence of the participants will be mandatory.

The exercise sessions will be repeated depending on the number of participants. The dates can be modified according to organizational needs.

The final exam will be organized immediately after the exercises session and it will comprise a first part with multiple choice questions and a second part with an open question.

Lectures will be in English. The maximum number of participants is 120.

QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATE AND CREDITS

The Industrial Property Course – Patents is in the list of R. 12(a) (Other qualifications during the transitional period) of the Draft Decision of the Administrative Committee on rules on the European patent litigation certificate and other appropriate qualifications pursuant to article 48(2) of the agreement on a Unified Patent Court (Draft EPLC rules), and, for a period of one year from the entry into force of the Agreement on the UPC, the certificate issued after passing the final exam will be recognized as an appropriate qualification for European Patent Attorneys to be registered on the list of entitled representatives under Article 48(2) of the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court.
